June 19, 2011I deliberately copied/pasted from the hype machine email: Click the link above for the full version.
• Hype! - we love building stuff, but being a small independent team, there simply aren’t enough of us to make Hype Machine work on every platform out there. So we were thrilled to see Matt use our API to create a free Android app that lets you check out what’s new on the Hype Machine. Try it out.
• Cloudskipper - Listening to music in the default Android player works for some, but frequently gets clumsy and limiting. The guys at Cloudskipperwere frustrated with this and built something much more elegant and social. There is also a decent app from Winamp, if you are into the old-school thunderbolt logo.
• Rd.io - The team at Rd.io is building one of the best subscription services out there. For a small monthly fee, you can listen to as many records and tracks you want, from their library of millions, make playlists and check out what albums your friends are listening to. Legally, of course. They have a slick web player, but also an excellent Android app. If that wasn’t enough, they even have a Blackberry and an iPhone app.
• Soundcloud - You know that huge community of musicians, and audio enthusiasts that hangs out on Soundcloud.com? Well, you can dive right in on your Android phone. There is even an instant recording feature that quickly uploads what you capture, onto the site.
This should get you started. Who knows, one day, we may have enough music apps for the Blackberry to make such a roundup too! ;)

Whoa, there are at least 551 wireless access points between New Hope and Newtown. Wardriving puts you in the know! There has to be a better way of sharing wifi, right?

Fill it to the rim with the richness of Brim, but first bring that rooster weather vane indoors, and then sit on the floor. What’s going on in this commercial? It doesn’t matter, cause they’re getting their Brim on!

April 5, 2011I’ve been eagerly awaiting for the Superbrothers to finish; Sword & Sworcery is now available in the App Store! Looks like I won’t be getting much sleep tonight.
Even the Wall Street Journal has been swayed enough to postulate, “iPad’s Best Game?” following that up by calling it, ‘the Legend of Zelda of the Twitter generation’.

Updated music site heat map post now includes 8tracks and We Are Hunted, based on Compete.com. See http://virtualmusic.tv/2011/02/2010-music-website-heat-map/2/ for full heatmap.
However, according to comScore — which tends to be more accurate — 8tracks is actually larger than a number of the other digital music companies that are depicted as larger in this heatmap. Will report more info later in the week.
